Learning curve

Being a parent is sure a learning curve. Last night William wet his clothes and swaddler twice, I think this means that we need to move up in diaper sizes? He still fits into the Newborn sizes, but I think that three to four hours of night time pee can't be contained in this size. The Huggies seem to fill up in the front and then the elastic allows the pee to seep up where the cord cut out is therefore wetting the onsie and outer clothes. We do tuck the little hose down, but he is still getting wet. Any suggestions/advice from the ladies out there with little boys? I plan to experiment with a larger size tonight and see what happens.

Breastfeeding is going pretty well, but William seems to have to burp a lot and then spits up if we don't get all the burps out. I had been holding him in a cross cradle with a boppy underneath, but then he is almost horizontal (I try to hold up his head higher than his feet). Today I started to try to sit him in my lap and feed. Hopefully that way he might swallow less air?

Its a lot of trial and error, but eventually we should find the best way for us.

With all the spit up lately we started using bibs, he was so cute sleeping there and I thought the Grandmothers might appreciate this picture.

Have you tried Pampers Swaddlers? Max didn't do well with Huggies either. Never had that problem with Swaddlers. But you may find th next size up better at night at least.

I have never tried using a diaper size larger at night, but know a lot of people that do that although their babies sleep for longer stretches already. I think that you really have to get the diaper on snug at night since the belly shrinks down a bunch between feedings. Huggies never worked for us when they were really little. Pampers always had a leg up. Tucking down the hose is very key. That is one thing I learned.
I know what you mean about the spitting up thing. I've read it and was told many times some babies are just more spitty uppy than others. Kudos for you for trying different things and getting it figured out to try and improve.

Tomorrow I will call you. I don't know about a visit this week, we'll see. All the kids seem to have a cold, although mild, and Charlie and Louis both have ear infections. I don't want to share that (the cold) with William. If you need to get out for a bit and leave Adam with special father/son time, I'd love to get together for whatever.

We always used Pampers too. (Although I know it is different since we have a girl), but we always really liked them. Now we use Huggies and they are fine, but for the little sizes Pampers seemed to absorb better.

We use Pampers and have only had one leak, and Julianna soaks those diapers so much at night that I swear they weigh a good 2 lbs when we change them. We also use the "overnight" diapers from Pampers so that may help also. I think changing diaper brands is a general consensus here, good luck!

I'm another fan of the Pampers. Never had a problem with them, and he now wears his bedtime diaper for about 12 hours! We do use the overnight ones, but I'm not sure they make overnight ones in the small sizes, can't remember.
