Jinxed

Yeah so I totally jinxed myself with the last post. The last two nights have been back to where we were. Last night he kept waking up over and over from about 4am on. I felt bad for Adam since he has to work, so I ended up pulling a comforter out of the spare bedroom and sleeping on the floor in William's room. It sounds bad, but I actually got more sleep that way as I was able to get him back to sleep quicker. Plus I was less awake and able to settle back myself quicker. This lasted till about 7:30 am when Adam got up.

Thank goodness for our blog and all the pictures. While upgrading our computer we lost all of our pictures when a backup failed. We had loaded William pictures to my work computer on Dec 11th and had some pictures still on the camera, but lost a lot in between. But I was able to pull the best pictures that I had posted to the blog back. We lost a lot of memories from previous years, but hopefully we can get pictures from other people we were with at the time to replace them.

William appears to be taking longer day time naps. Before it was nap 30min, feed, awake 30 min, and repeat. Today and yesterday we are getting longer naps ~2 hours. I hope that translates to longer night time sleep sessions too.

Thursday we go in for William's 2 month appointment. I will be excited to see how much he has grown. But I think they also get some shots this time. Do I give the Tylenol before the shots or after, and if before, how do I know how much to give him since I don't know his weight and the box just says if under 24 lbs ask your pediatrician? Fellow Moms out there, any suggestions?

Pictures from William's long nap in the window today.

Erin,
So sorry to hear that Will reverted back to his short sleeping naps during the night. I think you should go to formula possibly?? We give the Tylenol about a half hour before we go to the dr. We give half the dropper (I believe it is .04 on the dropper). Here is the link to our peds dosage chart.

Too bad about Will. He looks so big even since the photos you posted the other day!

I give the Tylenol while we are waiting for the nurse to come back in with the shots. Normally the nurse comes in, doc comes in, then nurse again. Also have a pacifier or something he likes to look at to help distract him. Follow what Chandra said about the doseage. I can't remember!

I'm the cruel one of the bunch. We don't do the Tylenol with the shots, unless they spike a higher fever later in the day or the evening. I've read that giving Tylenol before the shots can actually reduce the vaccinations effectiveness. Haven't checked with the ped on this one, maybe I will tomorrow since George is getting H1N1 again. It was a new study, so its not like its really proven or anything but we try to avoid the drugs when we can.

Erin, keep up the good work. As you've figured out, its definitly not easy being a mom and even more difficult when nursing. Babies are all different from one another. Some spit up more than others, some catch a routine right away, some sleep in predictable 4 hour increments right away, you get the picture. I do remember when Charlie and Louis started sleeping longer at night there was a trade-off by waking up more really early in the morning. It was like they were telling you they didn't mean to sleep that long all at once, and had to make up for it. It all gets figured out eventually but it is so dang frustrating in the meantime. I have also slept on the floor with the comforter. Hang in there. He was a few weeks early and just a wee little guy so has lots of catching up to do. He's lovin his gourmet meals and I'm sure on Thursday his weight will prove it!

At 2 months I didn't give them Tylenol until they woke up crying from their naps feeling a little warm. Bring a bottle with some pumped breast milk to give him right after. That helped for us along with an extra cuddle. Good luck! It's harder for Mommy and Daddy than the kids!
