The following weekend we headed from WI to MN after a night in the twin cities to break up the drive we headed up north. It was really hot when we got up north so we just unpacked and sat around trying to keep cool.
Our first full day at the Shady Inn resort on Lake Alexander was rainy so we were cooped up indoors most of the day. But we made the most of it with Will. He scooted around in his walker, played on a blanket on the floor and looked out the windows while playing with G'ma's hoodie string.
The next day was much nicer so we got to hang out in the sand and enjoy the sun. William managed three handfuls of sand into his mouth during the time we sat in the sand, yuck! But he seemed to like the sand in his hands and walking around in the water.

The beach babies, Kayla and Will, and their orange swim suits, too cute!
Will loved walking around in the water.

We then headed to my parents cabin an hour north of the Shady. We were happy to get clean and cool when we got there. We got out in the boat twice and in the canoe with William for the first time. He seemed to like the canoe better than the boat. Moves slower so he can see things better and doesn't get as much wind blowing on his face.
We had nice campfires at the cabin too and had fun using an app on Adam's phone to find constellations in the night sky. My parents took most of the pictures during that time, so after they send them to me I will post some more. All I took during that time was some wrestle pictures with Daddy and Will.
My parents watched Will the last night we were at the cabin so that Adam and I could go out to dinner. It was so fun to get out and we really enjoyed ourselves at the Ranch House (home of the giant pop-overs). Thanks Mom and Dad!
All in all William did good in the many long car rides. Some times he fell asleep minutes after getting on the road and sometimes the naps came only after a cry fest. He was getting pretty sick of the car seat by the end of today as he was refusing to bend to sit down when we had to put him back into it after a stop. Puffs and a bucket of toys worked pretty well to keep him entertained while he was awake.
A snoozing boy on the ride back
His legs are so long that they hit the back seat so he has this wide seated stance with his legs. I don't think we will make it to one year facing the rear.
We had a wonderful time on vacation thanks to both the Grandparents. It will be hard to wait a whole year to do it again.
